Elon Musk is a free speech imbecile
Advertisers command a First Amendment right to boycott speech with which they disagree
The United States Supreme Court has repeatedly decreed for 40 years that the First Amendment protects the right to boycott vile or otherwise unwanted speech. In New Hampshire v. Piper (1985), for example, the Court held that a motorist could not be compelled to use a license plate preaching “Live Free or Die.” You cannot be forced to host KKK signs on your front porch even if the Klan offers $100,000. Free speech includes the right not to speak.
Elon Musk has described himself as a “free speech absolutist,” although I would wager he is clueless of what that means. He falls into that large category of idiots who do not know what they don’t know. A free speech absolutist would not stoop to vulgarities to disparage advertisers who abandoned X because of Musk’s endorsement that Jews promote hatred against while people. An absolutist would defend the boycott of X to distance themselves from Must’s hate speech.
Musk epitomizes why nothing is as dangerous as ignorance in action.
