The vote in their hands is more dangerous than an AK-47 in the hands of a child

A front page story in today’s New York Times, “A New Breed of Evangelical Finds a Defender in Trump,” quotes Karen Johnson, a 67-year-old counter attendant at a slot-machine parlor and self-identified evangelical Christian, as follows: “Trump is our David and Goliath,” as moronic as saying “Trump is our Moses and Pharoah, our God and Mephistopheles, our Christ and Antichrist.” There may be better examples of derangement, but if there are, they do not readily come to mind. The vote in the hands of such witless creatures is more dangerous than an AK-47 in the hands of a five-year-old. God placed sharp limits on the intelligence of homo sapiens, but left ignorance or stupidity uncircumscribed.
