Every good deed matters
Do not be discouraged that defeating all injustices or curing all misfortunes is impossible
Seldom if ever are great things accomplished overnight or in one stroke. That understanding should not deter good deeds that seem small in the larger scheme of things.
Every morning, recall the tale of the little boy and the old man. Thousands of fish are stranded on the beach at high tide and doomed to perish. A little boy spies their plight, but is able to throw only one fish back into the sea. The others die. The old man sneers at the little boy, “You accomplished nothing,” pointing at the thousands of dead fish. The little boy retorts, “To that one fish I accomplished everything.”
