Re: “Senators renew their push for unredacted 9/11 documents on Saudi Arabia,” (News story by Amy B. Wang, A4, September 12, 2023)
To the Editor:
If President Joe Biden continues to resist providing the Senate Homeland Security Committee with unredacted documents concerning Saudi Arabia’s involvement with 9/11, Chairman Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Ranking Member Ron Johnson (R-Wis) should invoke procedures for their declassification by a Senate vote alone pursuant to section 8 of Senate Resolution 400, 94th Cong., 2nd Sess. Transparency about 9/11 is too important for its victims and bilateral relations with Saudi Arabia to be left to ulterior motives of the President or the intelligence community. As Justice Louis D. Brandeis taught, “Sunshine is said to be the best of disinfectants; electric light the most effective policeman.”
