All lights are flashing on the Constitution’s dashboard.
President Trump summons Napoleon to justify presidential tyranny.
Elon Musk admonishes to get over antipathy with dictatorship.
Mr. Trump’s echo chamber press secretary says federal courts have been divested of jurisdiction over the President based on the 2024 election.
Within days, it is certain that Trump will flout a U.S. Supreme Court decision denying that we are at war with Venezuela or that Venezuela has invaded the United States for purposes of the Alien Enemy Act of 1798.
On July 4, 1776, the 56 signers of the American Declaration of Independence signed their death warrants to defend government by the consent of the governed to secure unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As Aristotle advised, courage sits at the summit if virtues because without it no others are possible.
We the People of the United States are the last guardrail against Mr. Trump’s self-coronation. Clamor with your servants in the House and Senate and among your colleagues every day for the impeachment and removal of President Trump for the high crime and misdemeanor of attempting to subvert and subverting the Constitution, the impeachment standard explained by Virginia delegate George Mason at the constitutional convention.
Begin each day reciting the opening verses of William Henry Longfellow’s Midnight Ride of Paul Revere and be awakened to our peril:
Listen, my children, and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-Five
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.
He said to his friend, “If the British march
By land or sea from the town tonight,
Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry-arch
Of the North Church-tower as a signal light
One if by land, and two if by sea;
And I on the opposite shore will be,
Ready ride and spread the alarm
Through every Middlesex village and farm,
For the country folk to be up and to arm.
Have a good answer when your children or grandchildren ask, “What did you do when the Constitution was aflame?
When President Nixon was flirting with defying a court order to surrender White House tapes in firing special prosecutor Archibald Cox, 30,000 telegrams poured into to Congress and the White House demanding impeachment and removal until Mr. Nixon quickly relented. Go and do likewise.
Happy St.Patrick’s Day, dear Bruce!! Time to drive out the 🐍 Snakes (or Dogs perhaps). I have long appreciated your Con Law gifts to us the public.
Many are now recognizing the threats to our 1st Amendment rights (speech, assembly, redress grievances) from latest assault ( on Mahmoud Kahlil) by the “King” and his canine, but 14th and 5th Amendment due process rights (to be charged, promptly arraigned, allowed counsel, hearing and trial) are being slashed as well. And if they get away with whisking someone away by little Rubio’s declaration that someone’s speech opposes our foreign policy, or the “King”’s utterance that these people (Venezuelans flown to El Salvador prison) are criminals and rapists and mentally ill, then we are all endangered. This is a Test.
Thank you for charging the light brigade!
May you be safe, May you be well, May you be free, and May you know joy!
